How much does it cost to ship products on Flipkart Seller?

Flipkart has its courier partner which makes it very easy for the Flipkart seller to deliver their products to the customer. Most of the Pincodes in the country are covered by Flipkart logistic partners. You can check the eligibility of your Pincode while completing the seller registration process on Flipkart. So, today in this post let me show you how will a seller is charged for shipping the products to customers.

Metrics For Flipkart Seller Shipping Fees Calculation

There are three factors based on which the flipkart calculates the shipping fees to deliver a order.

Actual Weight / Volumetric Weight – Based on actual weight or the volumetric weight whichever is greater is used as a parameter to calculate the easy ship fees.

Volumetric weight for a package is calculated by multiplying package dimensions in cm and dividing them with 5 will give you volumetric weight in grams.

Flipkart Seller Shipping Fees | Actual Weight And Volumetric Weight Calculation Example

Let us consider that the package weight is 400 gms and dimensions are 20 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm

Actual weight = 400gms
Volumetric weight = 20*30*30/5 =3600 gms

In this case the volumetric weight is higher then actual weight so volumetric weight is used to calculate the shipping charges.

Delivery Location – Based on the customer delivery location flipkart shipping fees will vary. Items shipped within the city are local shipments. Items shipped within the border of a zone(East, West, North, South) are zonal shipment. Item shipped within the zones are national shipment.

For example if you are a registered seller in delhi then all your shipment shipped within delhi are local shipment. If your shipment are shipped to state like uttarpradesh then it is considered zonal shipment and if your products are shipped to state like banglore then it is considered national shipment.

Performance Tier – Based on seller performance tier shipping fee will vary. Bronze sellers are charges more than silvers are charges more than gold seller.

Please go throught the table given below to understand the prices for local, zonal and national shipment according to their weights.

Product Weight Slab Local (INR) Zonal (INR) National (INR)
0 – 0.5 kg (For every 0.5 kg) 30 45 65
0.5 kg -3 kg (For every 0.5 kg) 18 23 27
3 kg -12 kg (For Every 1 kg) 8 10 15
>12 kg (For Every 1 kg) 4 5 8

The above rate card is applicable to bronze seller. There is 10 % discount for silver and 20 % discount for gold seller on above ratecard.

Now lets us see an example to calculate the shipping charges for a shipment.

Let say a seller operating his flipkart store from delhi got an order from a customer living in Mumbai where the shipment weight is 3800 gms and dimensions are 15cm x 20 cm x 20cm and the seller performance tier fall under silver category.

So Considering the above defined three parameters.

Parameter 1

Actual weight of the item = 3800 gms which should be round off to 4000 gms.

Please make a note that if the item weight does not fall under any slab then it will round off to the next higher slab.

Volumetric weight = 15 x 20 x 20 / 5=  1200 gms

So the Considering parameter is actual weight = 4000gms

Parameter 2

Delhi ———————————————————————–> Mumbai

So it is considered as national shipment.

Parameter 3

Seller Performance Tier = Silver (10 % off on rate card).

Product Weight SlabLocal (INR)Zonal (INR)National (INR)
0 – 0.5 kg (For every 0.5 kg)304565
0.5 kg -3 kg (For every 0.5 kg)182327
3 kg -12 kg (For Every 1 kg)81015
>12 kg (For Every 1 kg)458

Total shipping fees charged to seller –

For First 500 gms =  INR 65 – 10 % for silver = INR 58.5

From 500 gms to 3000 gms for every 500 gms  = INR 27 / 500 gms = INR 27 x 5 = INR 135 – 10 % for silver = INR 121.5

From 3000 gms to 4000 gms = INR 15 – 10 % for silver = INR 13.5

Total = 58.5 + 121.5 + 13.5 = INR 193.
